Twin research: on the origin of healthy food consumption and physical activity
A Consortium of international twin studies

Projects

The main aim of the Twin Research Consortium is to disentangle the genetic and the environmental factors that influence people's habits (i.e. Why certain people are more likely to follow a healthy diet and do physical activity compared to others)

We will address this question by using a classical twin study design in with three different projects:
Picture
Twins & Healthy diet
Dietary data will be used to disentangle the genetic and the environmental influences underlying healthy eating. Foods will be analysed by portion size and grams
Picture
Twins & Physical activity
Physical activity data will be used to evaluate the genetic and the environmental influences of physical activity behaviour. Data will be used to analyse the various influences on inactivity, leisure-time physical activity and exercise

GWAS
Genotype data will be analyse in order to find any genes that might influence healthy eating or physical activity behaviour
